Our aim is to contribute to a balanced food system and a good quality of life across Estonia.

We ensure that safe and healthy food reaches the tables of the Estonian people, that the welfare and health of our animals are protected and that our fields and plants are maintained. We also work to prevent violations and fraud in all these areas.

We make a significant contribution to ensuring that food produced in Estonia reaches both European and global markets and ensure that the reputation of our farmers and food producers is reliable.

We focuse on identifying risks and potential violations early. That allows us to prevent problems rather than react to them.

Areas of responsibility of the Agriculture and Food Board are

food safety, veterinary activities, animal health, feedingstuff safety, breeding of agricultural animals, market regulation, animal protection and professional fishing. Also plant protection, plant health, plant variety rights, seed and plant propagating material, organic farming, handling of genetically modified crops, fertilisers and gardening products i.e. fruits and vegetables.
